1st Day of Preschool!

Today was the first day of preschool for the boys! Grant is in the Whales classroom and Beckett is in the Stars. Grant was in the Stars room last year, so he's been filling Beckett in on all the ins and outs of the room.

They were both very excited this morning. I was expecting a few tears, instead I got a quick kiss and "bye mom!" At pick-up they were all smiles and "school was awesome!" All in all, a great day.

Here are a few pics I took in front of the house

Riley came too

Here's a few from the front of the school

This one looks a little stylish - like something you'd see in a magazine. :-)

Big Ship!

Today Cap and I took the kids down to Corpus to the USS Lexington. Unfortunately, Beckett was in "a mood" and it was incredibly HOT. Despite those, I think that the kids had a good time. This is definitely a highlight of the trip for Grant, so, as usual, he enjoyed it. Not sure Beckett will make a return trip for awhile. He wasn't into it...until we got to the firefighter room of course. :-) He just kept running ahead, disappearing, and, in general, not listening. Ah Beck, we love you. :-)

And there is the face we saw most of the day from Beckett.

Beckett - come over here for just a quick picture. Beckett, let go of the antenna for just a second. Oh forget it. Grant, let's scoot over towards Beck.

For some reason, after lunch, the kids were in a mood to take pictures. So I did manage to get a few good ones.

Goof balls in the backseat on the way home. Look how tired Beckett is. :-(

Happy Anniversary Macie & Cap!

Yesterday was Cap and Macie's 39th anniversary. We went out to dinner at this little restaurant near a new harbor about 15 minutes from here. There was a really bad band playing, it was a bit on the windy side, and the burgers were great.

Grant was absolutely exhausted - head on the table, didn't really eat dinner, not at all like him. In the beginning though he really wanted to dance, so here is a video of him dancing with Macie and Mommy.

To pass the time we then went down onto the docks and took some pictures. The kids weren't too cooperative, so the pics aren't great, but there are some cute ones.

Grant decided he wanted to have crazy hair for dinner. Macie put in lots of gel and "I look like a porcupine!"

Beckett goofing off in the backseat of the car.

The crew smashed into the backseat.

A super tired Grant also looking at the seagulls.

 Nothing like a good cuddle!

 Beckett just wouldn't cooperate

Swim Lessons!

Today the kids had one on one swim lessons at the Rockport pool. The instructor was fabulous! He was so gentle with the kids. I was really worried that Beckett would have nothing to do with him - he's into clinging to mommy around strangers. But as soon as I said that it was swim school, he jumped in right away. We also had him watch Grant's swim lesson.

Grant's lesson was first. The teacher, Mr. Bill, said that he's a very powerful swimmer and has never seen a 4 1/2 year old swim so well. He taught Grant the proper way to dive - even how to dive in for swim races. Mr. Bill said Grant really needs to be on a team. We are looking at our neighborhood swim team for next summer!

Beckett was next. As with most swim lessons, Mr. Bill started with putting Beckett's head in the water. Soon he had progressed into diving and swimming. By the end, as you will see, he's swimming and taking breaths and even swimming most of the way back from the diving board.

I was just amazed at how well they did. Mr. Bill agreed to give Grant another lesson before we leave and I am going to look into one on one lessons, especially for Grant. We are so proud of them. Hope you enjoy the videos!

Texas!

Grant Beckett and I are in Texas for 10 days. This morning Cap and I took the kids to the beach for a little while. It's terribly hot, but hopefully we will have lots of videos and pictures to post over the next week or so!

And Now Beckett

Today we went to the Rockport pool for the first time. Grant has been very excited to go to the pool because he remembered that they have a diving board. So after some time in the baby pool, we headed over to the big pool. My first stop was the lifeguard, with Grant in tow, to find out the rules of the diving board. Well, of course Beckett followed and we found out that yes, he too can jump off the board. So off he goes, running to the board. Cap quickly jumped in the water and here you will see him jump. I love how excited he is and especially how he's psyching himself up for the jump. He had a great time, completely wore out his rescuers (Cap and Mommy) and is looking forward to going back. Whew...you'd never know that he's only 3!

Grant was great too. He tried diving (didn't go too well, so we practiced off the side of the pool for a bit), but he has the cannonball down! I am always impressed with his swimming - he does a great job!

And here are some pictures that Aunt Amy took of the event! Thanks Amy! These are great!

The lifeguard put Beckett into timeout because he wasn't listening. After probably 5 whistles and 5 close talks, he finally pulled him out of the pool. Beckett, no running! Beckett, you can't go down the slide backwards! UGH! As you can see, he's not crying and upset about being in trouble, he's just mad!
