GO HEAT!

This past week has been very busy for us. Grant and Beckett started their classes at the YMCA and I subbed in their school both Tuesday and Thursday. Then we had soccer this morning and as I was taking the videos I realized that I hadn't posted the video from last week. UGH.

Soccer started about a month ago, but because we were in Texas for the 1st couple of weeks and then Labor Day and then a crazy rainstorm, last Saturday was our first game. Grant and Beck are on the same soccer team this year - The Heat! We are playing in the same church league we did last year. The youth soccer in Fishers doesn't start until players are 4, so we wanted Beckett to be able to play this year. Their good friends Emmitt and Alina are also on the team. Emmitt and Grant enjoy playing together and are making really good teammates - passing and communicating on the field. Beckett is a really good player, when he wants to be. In the first game (the first video), he's into the game and does a good job. The second game - not so much.

The team is split into 2 so that all the players can play. It's usually 3 on 3. In some of the video, Grant and Beckett are on the same team. Then they get split in both games for the 2nd half.

GAME #1

This is the video from the game this morning. Beckett is really having a hard time catching up on sleep. He has been waking up around 5 or 5:30 for the past couple of days and just drags for the rest of the day. Poor kiddo. I think it has to do with potty training (he's almost there for overnights) and so he wakes up to potty and then doesn't want to go back to bed. Anyway, this morning he was up again at 530 or so. So when he goes to play on the other field, he basically decides that he's had enough and won't play.

As you will see, Grant and Emmitt really click in the second half and just dominate on their side of the field. Grant is definitely enjoying it.

GAME #2

Finally, here are some random photos from the past couple of weeks.

The kids and coaches talking strategy before the first game. Notice Alina's pink skirt. :-)

Not sure what the story is here. All I know is Roger said, go find mom so she can take your picture. :-)

At the park after a bike ride.

Beckett was Star of the Week this week at school (notice the necklace around his neck). We did posters with pictures and facts about Beck and he brought in a few things to show his class. He wore a crown all day Thursday and got to be line leader. He had a great time.

Grant wanted his picture taken too...of course.

Roger filled in for one of the coaches this week. He had a great time and the kids really liked having Daddy as their coach.

Beckett not playing anymore - DONE.

On our way home after hitting Target and a few post game errands. I turned around and Beckett had slid his shirt down around this waist...pushed his arms through the neck hole and pushed it all the way down. Grant just wanted to be in the picture. This really is a great way to sum up a very crazy week!

Life As A Star

Beckett LOVES school. Every Tuesday and Thursday night are filled with stories of what happened and who did what. Roger is out of town, so I was filling him in on my conversation with Beck tonight at bedtime. He was cracking up and suggested I post them on the blog.

First I should say that whenever I ask Beckett how school was, he usually recites the rules to me.

M - "Beck, how was school?"
B - "Mommy, you don't stomp on the carpet."
M - "Oh, OK. How was school.
B - "Mommy, we don't hit. Or punch."

Good to know.

Lately he has been mentioning another little boy in his class:

M - "How was school?"
B - "Sebastian had to go to timeout."
M - "Oh, what did he do?"
B - "He hit. All day long I hear 'Sebastian, go to time out.'"
M - "Do you ever hear Beckett go to time out?"
B "Noooo.... (with a sheepish look on his face)"

So, with a bit of background, here was today:

M - How was school?
B - We made applesauce. Teachers made applesauce. Sebastian didn't like it.
M - He didn't? Did you?
B - Yes, I thought it was good. But Sebastian didn't like it.
M - How was the rest of your day?
B - Sebastian had to go to time out (I really need to meet this kid!)
M - He did? That's too bad.
B - In our classroom, X marks the spot.
M - What do you mean?
B - On the carpet, X marks the spot.
M - Oh, so you sat on the X today.
B - No, X is purple. I don't like purple. I sat on orange. Next time I am going to sit on green.

Silence for a minute....

B - I sat in a chair and another kid wanted the chair but I told him "I WAS HERE FIRST (very forceful when he said that). But the kid wanted to sit there, so I kept telling him I WAS HERE FIRST.
M - Maybe you could have shared the chair.
B - No Mommy, I was there first!
M - OK.....

Silence for a minute....

B - At lunchtime we can get out our lunch sacks but we just have to leave them on the table and then go out and play. We can't even get a snack out....

Silence for a minute.....

B - Sebastian's hair goes down to here. (I feel and Beckett's fingers are at the base of his neck.)
M - Oh really? So Sebastian has longer hair than you do?
B - Yes, it's too long. I really need to cut it.
M - Um, no you don't.

So there you have a quick run down of my conversation with Beckett tonight. :-) From this conversation I am very anxious and excited to meet Sebastian and I am going to send an email to Beck's teachers to be aware of Beckett - scissors - Sebastian. That combination could have disastrous results! :-)

Grant hasn't been nearly as chatty about school. He loves it and always says it's awesome...but nothing like Beckett. If there are any good comment from him I will post soon! :-)

Labor Day Outing

After a weekend of Hurricane Isaac remnants, we were desperate to get out of the house. We decided to brave the remaining rain and head out for the day.

We went down to McCormicks Creek, a state park just outside of Bloomington, IN. Luckily the temperature was only 71 because the humidity was 95%.  That made for a steamy, semi-foggy walk through the woods. As Grant said, "pooky" and "mysterious."

The trail we chose was a 2 mile loop to a Wolf cave. The caves have been closed to protect bats, so we were only able to peek in at the entrances. Even so, the boys loved exploring. We had a picnic lunch at one of the playgrounds and then checked out McCormick Falls on our way out of the park. We had a great time and are excited the kids enjoyed it too. Beckett was disappointed that we didn't bring his bike, but quickly found sticks and nuts on the ground. :-)

Checking out one of the many hollow trees.

Checking out one of the entrances to the cave.

Riley had a great time. Unfortunately, she found some sort of a plant filled with seed pods. Her paws and muzzle were completely covered in them.

 "The cave goes that way..."

Beckett and Daddy checking out another entrance.

LOVE this pic. Beckett just pulled everyone in and smiled. :-)

Grant found this fossil on the rock - not sure it's really a fossil, but he thought it was.

This was Beckett on the whole walk - checking out all the stuff on the ground - sticks, nuts, mushrooms, leaves.

Trying to get a good pic by the falls...the platform just wasn't big enough to back up and get all of us.

Poor Riley. She likes to lay on the AC vents and while I was upstairs getting the kids down for naps, he tags got stuck in the vent. So, when I came downstairs, this is what I found. Silly girl. :-)
