Soccer started about a month ago, but because we were in Texas for the 1st couple of weeks and then Labor Day and then a crazy rainstorm, last Saturday was our first game. Grant and Beck are on the same soccer team this year - The Heat! We are playing in the same church league we did last year. The youth soccer in Fishers doesn't start until players are 4, so we wanted Beckett to be able to play this year. Their good friends Emmitt and Alina are also on the team. Emmitt and Grant enjoy playing together and are making really good teammates - passing and communicating on the field. Beckett is a really good player, when he wants to be. In the first game (the first video), he's into the game and does a good job. The second game - not so much.
The team is split into 2 so that all the players can play. It's usually 3 on 3. In some of the video, Grant and Beckett are on the same team. Then they get split in both games for the 2nd half.
GAME #1
This is the video from the game this morning. Beckett is really having a hard time catching up on sleep. He has been waking up around 5 or 5:30 for the past couple of days and just drags for the rest of the day. Poor kiddo. I think it has to do with potty training (he's almost there for overnights) and so he wakes up to potty and then doesn't want to go back to bed. Anyway, this morning he was up again at 530 or so. So when he goes to play on the other field, he basically decides that he's had enough and won't play.
As you will see, Grant and Emmitt really click in the second half and just dominate on their side of the field. Grant is definitely enjoying it.
GAME #2
Finally, here are some random photos from the past couple of weeks.
The kids and coaches talking strategy before the first game. Notice Alina's pink skirt. :-)
Not sure what the story is here. All I know is Roger said, go find mom so she can take your picture. :-)
At the park after a bike ride.
Beckett was Star of the Week this week at school (notice the necklace around his neck). We did posters with pictures and facts about Beck and he brought in a few things to show his class. He wore a crown all day Thursday and got to be line leader. He had a great time.
Grant wanted his picture taken too...of course.
Roger filled in for one of the coaches this week. He had a great time and the kids really liked having Daddy as their coach.
Beckett not playing anymore - DONE.
