Happy Halloween!

"I had an awesome day." Beckett Simmons as he fell asleep.

After a crazy rain storm, the sun came out around lunchtime and we had amazing weather for trick or treating.

A friend of ours hosted a BBQ before trick or treating. We are exhausted, I need to get to bed...so bring on the pictures!

We carved pumpkins over the weekend. Next year we need to prep pumpkins - they got moldy. :-(

 Grant digging right in.

Mom - "Beckett, aren't you going to help?"
Beckett - "No, this is grossing me out." And he walked out of the room.

 Proud of his hard work.

Good job Beckett. Glad you put down your Rescue Hero in time for this photo. :-)

Today Beckett and I went and had lunch with Grant at his school

The kids had indoor recess, so Beckett plopped down and watched with everyone!

Inner Space Cavern

One of Grant's buddies had his birthday party today at Inner Space Caverns - a HUGE cave just down the road from us. It really was amazing - the caverns go forever and we didn't even see 1/2 of it! An hour down there and I am wiped out! Beckett wanted me to carry him out...it was quite the adventure.

Listening intently to the rules. #1 rule - DON'T TOUCH THE ROCKS! I guess the oils on our hands kill the rock and it stops growing - just like coral. Who knew?!?

As a party favor the kids got headlamps (FUN!!).

This is the cavern at the end of the tour...called crescent cavern for the pool at the bottom of the picture. The owners of the cavern had a wedding down here. It was a huge cavern and really very cool.

There were some impalas and a zebra (RANDOM) outside by the playground. This baby impala really liked Beckett.

Beautiful Weather...FINALLY

Fall has arrived in Austin, Texas and we are loving it! It's hard to stay inside on days when it's 75 and sunny! So, every chance we get we hit the park.

Well, we still love to read books too. Grant is reading on his own these days. He will read Foot Book, Hop On Pop, and Green Eggs and Ham to you anytime, anywhere. :-)

Kids laying on the floor watching Scooby Doo.

Beckett and I on a picnic at the park next to our neighborhood. It's our favorite way to spend a day off.

Don't know if Beckett is smiling extra big or squinting in the sun. :-)

Beck and I headed to Target this week and here is the outfit he walked into the store with - football jersey (backwards of course), Crocs (2 different colors on the wrong feet), and, of course, Home Depot goggles. :-) Gotta love this kid.

Perfect afternoon after school - hit Sonic for happy hour (1/2 price drinks and snacks) and then hit the playground for 2 hours. I had some pics of all the kids smiling, but this one made me laugh. :-)

Fall Fest - Texas Style

Today we headed out to Barton Hills Farms in Bastrop, TX. It is a beautiful farm full of things to do. There was a 5 acre corn maze in the shape of something to do with Willie Nelson. A band was playing some really twanging country music (Grant was able to show off his moves). A jumping pillow, a cow train, swings and more. So fun! Today's weather was perfect and luckily, Beckett got out of his funk.

Grant up on the bow of the ship.

Beckett in full funk. This was a very cool wooden ship with a sand box in the middle. I really thought the kids would want to play here longer. I was impressed by the ship...them, not so much. Oh well.

Heading into the corn maze. What a great time this was! We had to find 10 markers inside the maze. At each marker we answered a trivia question and depending on the answer we went right or left. Very fun. (More on this in the video)

 Figuring out the first question.

 Beckett's turn

A decent family photo. I must remind you that Grant weighs 70+ pounds - yep, I can still lift him when needed!

Ah, the jumping pillow. These are SO FUN! The kids love to bounce and jump and everything else. Very glad we opted for the all access pass.

Beckett is slowing coming out of his funk. He really needs to start sleeping later in the mornings...

Off to the cow train we go. The driver was crazy and the ride was BUMPY! Of course, the kids LOVED it.

There were these amazing swings in the cottonwood trees. They had a huge swing arc. Beckett loves to swing and this definitely wiped out the funk.

 I love this one.

Last stop - this old truck by the exit.

We had a very fun day. We are all wiped out - the combination of Beckett waking everyone at the crack of dawn and a day in the crisp fresh air...aahh...time for bed. :-)

Video of various things - corn maze, pillow, cow train and swing. Enjoy. :-)
