Fisher's Freedom Festival

This weekend was our town's big Fisher's Freedom Festival. This was the first year that we went and it was GREAT! The kids had a great time.

The first event was the Children's Bike Parade. We decorated bikes last night and then headed to the park first thing this morning. I am excited to announce that we placed 3rd in the decoration contest! The kids didn't really understand it...so it made the waiting for the pictures especially long.

After the parade and pictures, we headed into the festival to check things out. I was pleasantly surprised to discover so many free activities for the kids. Many churches participated and I could tell that they really put a lot of time into their activities.

The highlight for the kids was a Tae Kwon Do booth. Beckett spun their prize wheel and it landed on break a board. There is a short clip of it - he was really intimidated by the guy helping out and was clinging to me...but I got the best part. Grant of course wanted to do it too, so they were accommodating and let him trade in his water bottle for breaking a board. Got him on tape too - he's MUCH more intense!

Anyway, it was a really fun day for us (Roger had to stay home in bed....really not feeling well).

A Few Pics From This Week

Grant was at dinosaur camp this week, so Beckett and I were on our own every morning. Most days we hit the pool.

Once again, Grant LOVED dinosaur camp. His days were filled with games, crafts and a few water moments. :-)

 Fishers has a program every summer where local artists paint pianos and then scatter them throughout the town...kind of a scavenger hunt of sorts. Here is one at one of our favorite parks.

For Beckett's birthday, Macie ordered a caterpillar to butterfly kit. Very fun for the kids. 5 caterpillars arrived in the mail...already growing and eating in a cup. After about 5 days, they started hanging from the top. Then we transferred then crysalisks to the butterfly dome. Then after about a week they slowly started "hatching." We had flowers on the floor of the dome, dotted with sugar water and then released them once everyone was flying around. Anyway, here is a video of Beckett checking out the butterflies and then some of the releasing ceremony. :-)

Happy Father's Day!

For Father's Day i thought we would go all out on all the foods we never have - doughnuts for breakfast and steak for dinner.

So this morning...early this morning...I told the kids to grab their shoes because we were going to get Daddy doughnuts. And yes, I knew we were going in our pjs (I think over half the people at Dunkin Doughnuts are in their pjs.) What I didn't expect was instead of their usual shoes...they put on their rainboots.

So I ran back inside, grabbed my phone and snapped this pic outside DD. Classic!

LOVE our bikes

We were at one of our favorite parks this week and the kids, of course, brought their bikes. As you will see in this video, they love to see how fast and crazy they can be. I think that I remind Grant this time around that I don't have too many band-aids with me. :-)

Grant's new tricks are half spins when he stops and he's always trying to "pop a wheelie." The side walks in our neighborhood are riddled with big bumps. Everytime he goes over these bumps, he tries to pill up his front wheel. Some pops are bigger than others. I swear one of these times he's really going to time it right and flip his bike. UGH.

Funny stories from the other night. We were having leftovers, which I call, eat what you want night:

Grant: "Mommy, I don't think we should call this 'eat what you want night.'
Mommy: "Really Grant, what should we call it?"
Grant: "We should call it 'eat what you please night.' You always tell us it's not nice to say 'want.'"

Beckett: "Mommy, my nose hurts."
Mommy: "Well, you bonked it pretty hard today. Remember you had a bloody nose? Don't pick at it and it will feel better."
Beckett: "No Mommy, it hurts cause there's a tarrot (carrot) up there."
Mommy: "WHAT?!?!?!"
Daddy takes out the flash light and shines it up there. And yep, there's a carrot up there. We were having salad with dinner and apparently he took one of the shredded carrots and stuck it up the right nostril. Luckily a pair of tweasers and the flashlight took care of the issue and a trip to the ER wasn't in the cards for us that night. OH, BECKETT......

Few more from Beckett's Birthday

Here are some pictures from the Beckett's birthday at the Children's Museum. In all, there were 9 kiddos under the age of 6 - makes for an interesting and busy morning.

The new exhibit at the museum is Hot Wheels. Very well done and the boys loved it. Lots of race tracks set up with all sorts of cars to try out on the tracks. From there we went to the LEGO exhibit and then the science center where the kids love to play in the construction area as well as the expansive water tables. Always a great day!

I am happy to report that my computer is back up and running!! Roger gets a HUGE thank you for the hours he put in to get it repaired. AND, I am happy to report that I found some pictures from May on my phone! YEA!

Anyway, here are some pics from when we went to Touch a Truck down at Fishers Town Plaza. There were all sorts for trucks and vehicles for the kids to climb all over. A yearly favorite in our house!

Berry Picking!

This week a friend and I took the kids to a local farm and picked some strawberries and blueberries. Very fun day and very yummy berries!
