In the pool at 6:30 am
First race at 7:00
Today was our first swim meet of the 2016 season. The boys have been practicing hard for a couple of weeks and today it paid off. They rocked all their races.
Beckett swam in 4 races - Freestyle relay, 25 meter freestyle, 25 meter backstroke, 25 meter butterfly. He won all the races but the relay. We are so proud of him. He didn't outright win any races last year so this was a really big accomplishment for him.
Grant swam in 5 races - Medley relay (he swam the backstroke) 25 meter backstroke, 25 meter breast stroke, 25 meter butterfly and 100 meter freestyle relay. While he didn't win any of the races, he posted faster times, so earned 3 time improvements.
In some of their races, both of the boys swam fast enough to earn a spot in the state Invitational meet in July. So we will all be headed to Texas A&M University. In this meet, the boys will race against swimmers from all over the state.
It was a great beginning to our swim season. They are so fun to watch. Hope you enjoy the videos!
Beckett on the ready bench before his first race - Freestyle Relay.
Grant looking over at our friend Greyson. He swims for the other team. Guess he was sizing up the competition. :0
WINNER WINNER! 1st place!
Our super fast swimmers. GOOD JOB BOYS
Beckett in the freestyle relay
Grant in the 25 Backstroke
Beckett in the 25 freestyle
Beckett in the 25 Backstroke
Grant in 25 Backstroke
Beckett in the 25 Butterfly. He has such a powerful dolphin kick. He ended up being disqualified in this race because he did a little flutter kick in the middle. If he hadn't, he would have had invitational time for this one as well. He's confident he will get it next time. :) As he told a friend the other day - "Backstroke - It's my jam"
Grant in the 25 Butterfly. This was a tight race. 3,4 and 5 place had a difference of .5 seconds.
